PLAY INCUBATION COLLECTIVE LETTER OF AGREEMENT FOR DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP Participation

This is a letter of agreement between Play Incubation Collective (PIC) and the theater artist participating in PIC DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS in 2025, hereby known as Artist. Please read the agreements below and sign your consent.

Services Provided. Artist agrees to participate as CAST, DRAMATURG, or PLAYWRIGHT in a PIC PIPS reading. Artist agrees to attend all associated development worksessions when scheduled, and one public reading. Artist agrees to familiarize themself with the script prior to the first worksession they are scheduled for, and to familiarize themself with any updated scripts between worksessions and the public reading.
a. Artist as CAST- agrees to bring their own script, either printed or on a tablet, to have familiarized themself with the role
ahead of the worksession and reading, and feel prepared to perform it to the best of their ability. Artist is not asked to
memorize the material.
b. Artist as PLAYWRIGHT- agrees to work with PIC team to assemble their cast and team. They agree to share
information about the reading publicly to aid in publicity efforts. They agree to meet all deadlines as they pertain to the
formulation of reading. Playwright agrees to meet ahead of worksession with dramaturg to identify what they would like
to focus on in worksession, as well as questions to be discussed with the audience. They agree to acknowledge this
developmental support in future iterations of the script with the following language, "This play received a Developmental
Workshop with Play Incubation Collective in 2025." ​
c. Artist as DRAMATURG- agrees to work with playwright ahead of time to determine the scope and structure of each
worksession as well as craft questions about the piece to share with the public audience.
d. By participating in this project, Artist agrees to the use of their photos for PIC website and social media.
Artist agrees to arrive at venue for the call time of each scheduled worksession, and no later than 6:30pm on evenings of public reading. Worksession calltimes will be communicated by Program Coordinator or PIC Co-Director by email. Artist agrees to not enter the Workroom space until Program Coordinator and/or a PIC Co-Director has arrived. If they encounter any delays in arrival time, artist agrees to contact Program Coordinator in advance of scheduled arrival time. Program Coordinator or PIC Co-Director will share their contact information via email prior to the first worksession. All worksessions and readings to take place at The Workroom at 33 Hawley St, Northampton. Artist will enter downstairs through the courtyard.
Compensation. PIC agrees to pay Actors, Playwright, and Dramaturg $20 an hour for each worksession and reading. Actor can expect to be called for 3.5 hours on day of the reading. The exact number of hours called for worksessions will be determined by project needs and communicated via email. Additionally Playwright and Dramaturg will be compensated for an addition 2 hours outside of group worksessions and public reading. Artist will receive payment via check after arrival at the venue on the day of the public reading.
