Become a PIC Collaborating Artist

THE COLLECTIVE

At PIC we believe every voice in the room deserves to be heard, and every theater artist can be a maker. We aim to empower theater artists of all disciplines to serve as active participants in the play creation process and serve as a valued collaborators. PIC isn't just a space for playwrights to develop their work, it's also a community of localized artists that come together in support of one another to impact the landscape of theater-making.

While most play development modalities we use culminate in a public reading, the worksessions leading up to those readings don't really look like traditional rehearsals. Rather than working with a director to perfect a performance, actors are tasked with script analyzation, discussions with the playwright centered around the writer's questions, reading new and emerging pages out loud throughout the development process, and doing everything they can to serve the text and the playwright's needs. There is no memorization involved in our developmental processes due to the fact that the script evolves throughout.

We welcome actors, dramaturgs, directors, stage managers, designers, and multi-disciplinary artists to serve as collaborators in the work we do. In addition to creative opportunities, artists are also invited to take on paid administrative roles on particular projects.

Are you a local* artist interested in getting involved in the play development process? We'd love to chat with you too! Step one is to fill out the Artist Intake Form.

*We define local as within a one-hour radius of Northampton, MA
